Trae caught the staff and looked it over. He looked back to Lizzy. "Thank you." he said. He felt strange using the staff but he would have to get used to it while his wounds healed.

Jo waited nervously as the phone stopped ringing and someone said, "Hello? If you're the police, I'm not here." She grinned.
"Hey, Dave. It's me, Jo. Listen, I just --"
"Jo? Jo Cipher? From high school? This is great! I haven't seen you for years. No one has. Did you hear about what happened to Kevin? Well, of course you did. It happened in your house, after all. But do you know what people are saying? They think that Kevin was a mutant! Can you believe that? I mean, he was weird, but --"
"Dave!" she said, cutting him off. "I just have to tell you something. I want you -- and all the rest of the guys -- to be careful. Something's going on, and I don't want you guys to get involved. People could get hurt."
"What do you mean?" he asked. "No, don't tell me. I'll come out and see you myself. I tracked the cell phone with the thing Trevor made you for Christmas. See you soon!"
"No!" Jo said. "I don't think you should --" Dave hung up. "--come." Grumbling, she closed the phone and handed it back to Lizzy. Stupid friends, she thought.
